For kids, it’s a little adventure: cutting shapes, sneaking tastes of dough, decorating—and proudly showing off their creations at the end. For adults, it’s a chance to enjoy quality time, create memories, and maybe relive a bit of childhood magic.
To make baking stress-free and joyful, here are three easy, foolproof recipes perfect for little bakers. Enjoy!

1.
Classic Butter Cookies – Perfect for Cutting Shapes

Ingredients:

  • 250 g butter (soft)

  • 150 g sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla sugar

  • 400 g flour

Instructions:

  1. Cream butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla sugar together.

  2. Add flour and knead into a smooth dough.

  3. Wrap in cling film and chill for at least 30 minutes.

  4. Roll out the dough about 5 mm thick and cut into shapes.

  5. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 8–10 minutes.

Tip for kids:
Provide sprinkles, icing, or decorations—this is the most fun part!

2. Chocolate Cookies – For Little Chocoholics

Ingredients:

  • 200 g soft butter

  • 100 g sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 250 g flour

  • 30 g cocoa powder

  • 1 tsp baking powder

Instructions:

  1. Mix all ingredients into a dough.

  2. Shape into small balls or use cookie cutters.

  3. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 10–12 minutes.

Variation:
Decorate with Smarties or chocolate chips before baking—kids love it!

3. Cinnamon Stars – The Taste of Christmas

Ingredients:

  • 400 g ground almonds

  • 3 egg whites

  • 250 g powdered sugar

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Beat egg whites until stiff, then gradually add powdered sugar.

  2. Set aside 2–3 tbsp of this mixture for the glaze.

  3. Fold in almonds and cinnamon, roll out the dough between baking paper.

  4. Cut out star shapes and brush with egg white glaze.

  5. Bake at 150°C (300°F) for 12–15 minutes.

Baking with Kids: 5 Helpful Tips

✔ Allow plenty of time—breaks are normal.
✔ Let kids do as much as possible (even if it gets messy).
✔ Work with small portions of dough—it’s easier to roll out.
✔ Use a mat or protective surface to keep flour off tables and clothes.
✔ Play Christmas music and serve hot cocoa for the perfect atmosphere.

Baking Christmas cookies isn’t just a delicious tradition—it’s a wonderful way to be creative together, practice patience, and create memories that last.

Whether it’s classic butter cookies, chocolate treats, or fragrant cinnamon stars, the most important thing is that hearts and hands are involved.

Have fun!
